PASTURE, RANGELAND and FORAGE (PRF)

Pasture, Rangeland and Forage insurance insures against a decline in a rainfall index (lack of precipitation) over two month intervals in a designated area called a grid (12 mile X 12 mile). National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data is used for the rainfall index which reflects how much precipitation is received relative to a long-term average for a specified area (grid) and time frame (intervals). This insurance is primarily intended for those producers whose production tends to follow the average precipitation in the area (grid). ​
